Habitat LA is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), an ecumenical Christian organization that excels at attracting people of any or no faith to work together to build homes, community, and hope.
In addition to building new houses, we also partner with families in need of a new roof, a wheelchair ramp, or other vital repairs.
We work to revitalize communities and help those affected by local disasters.
Globally, our tithe supports Habitat's work in other countries including building shelters, disaster response, microfinancing, and more.
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONHabitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) is seeking a qualified candidate who is a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development to join our team.
The Director of Development will play a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission by leading and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies, fostering strategic partnerships, driving financial growth, and managing a portfolio of current and potential corporate donors within the greater Los Angeles service territory.
SUMMARY OF
Essential Functions:
1.
Fundraising Strategy and Execution:
In collaboration with senior leadership, develop and implement annual development plans, budgets, and performance metrics that are aligned with Habitat LA's goals and objectives.
Identify and pursue diverse funding sources including in-kind donations, corporate grants and sponsorships.
Prepare high-quality proposals and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Collaborate with Corporate team to develop and implement strategic plans for their respective areas of responsibility.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
Manage a portfolio of a minimum of 150 corporate donors.
Collaborate with companies to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that align with Habitat LA's mission.
Develop and implement tailored stewardship plans to recognize and retain corporate donors at all giving levels.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to develop fundraising and events collateral.
Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and support.

Team Leadership and Management:
Provide guidance, motivation, support, and mentorship for the corporate team to ensure team effectiveness and goal achievement.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring coordination and synergy among team members to maximize the impact of fundraising efforts.
Conduct regular performance evaluations for team members, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional growth.
Set clear performance expectations and goals for each team member, aligning individual objectives with organizational priorities.
Represent the team's accomplishments and challenges to senior leadership.
Facilitate effective communication within the team and across departments to enhance collaboration and information-sharing.

Event Planning and Donor Management:
Working in partnership with the Events department, coordinate fundraising events and campaigns to support revenue goals and maximize donor engagement opportunities.
SUMMARY OF JOB
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or related field, with a proven track record of success in securing corporate gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
Strong understanding of affordable housing issues and a passion for the organization's mission.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate Habitat LA's mission and impact to diverse audiences.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including corporate partners, donors, and community members.
Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills.
Proficiency in donor database management and Microsoft Office Suite.
RENXT experience preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
Computer proficient, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) -- Raiser's Edge knowledge a plus.
Must have access to reliable internet connection.
Must have access to reliable transportation to perform job duties, a valid CA driver's license and meet the state-required amount of personal automobile liability insurance.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check, and a credit check Although no longer required, we strongly encourage all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will continue to require all employees to submit their vaccination status by the date of hire.

COMPENSATION:
The base pay range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000.
